Durante la última mitad del siglo XX, una corriente de pensamiento conocida como Interaccionismo Simbólico se propuso elaborar un modelo de comunicación que se adaptara a las Ciencias Sociales y que funcionase como una alternativa al modelo lineal vigente de la teoría matemática. El resultado fue una nueva concepción de la comunicación, entendida como un proceso social en donde el sentido se construye a través de la interacción.
El siguiente artículo buscará exponer los fundamentos principales del Interaccionismo Simbólico, a través de un análisis del capítulo “Algunos axiomas exploratorios de la comunicación” del libro Teoría de la Comunicación Humana de Paul Watzlawick, para establecer, posteriormente, una comparativa con el modelo de Roman Jakobson y comprender en qué instancia del proceso pone su foco esta teoría.
Así, Watzlawick y su escuela no sólo nos invitarán a reflexionar acerca de cómo se construyen y deconstruyen los mensajes, sino que, además, pondrán a nuestro alance todo un universo de posibilidades que nos ofrece el lenguaje a la hora de hablar sobre sí mismo.

During the last half of the 20 th century, a current of thought known as Symbolic Interactionism set out to develop a communication model that was adapted to the Social Sciences and that functioned as an alternative to the current linear model of mathematical theory. There sult was a new conception of communication, understood as a social process in which meaning is constructed through interaction.
The following article will seek to expose the main foundations of Symbolic Interactionism, through an analysis of the chapter "Some exploratory axioms of communication" in the bookTheory of Human Communication by Paul Watzlawick, to establish, later, a comparison with the model of Roman Jakobson and understand in which instance of the process this theory focuses.
In this way, Watzlawick and his school will not only invite usto reflect on how messages are constructed and deconstructed, but they will also put at our disposal a whole universo of possibilities that language off ersus whent al King about it self.
