| RESUMEN: En el presente ensayo analizamos la incidencia de la comunicación, llevada a cabo por la Unión de Naciones Suramericanas (UNASUR), en la consolidación de la identidad y ciudadanía regional, además observamos si el Organismo puede erigirse como una esfera pública mediante el Foro de Participación Ciudadana, todo ello a la luz del pensamiento de Jesús Martín Barbero.
